Jun Manjoume is one of Duel Academia’s best duelists, despite being in Osiris Red. He goes against the school’s dress code completely, choosing to wear a dark-violet shirt, black pants and a black trench coat.

At the start of his first year, Manjoume was one of the elites in Obelisk Blue. He had a large dislike for Juudai Yuuki and wished to defeat him in a duel, however, was never able to do so. After being defeated by Daichi Misawa in a duel, he leaves Duel Academia.

Some time later, he meets the headmaster of North Academy, Ichinose. After he defeats the whole of the North Academy, Ichinose declares that Manjoume will be the representative for the Duel/North Academy Duel. He gives Manjoume an Armed Dragon deck. Manjoume’s brothers, Shouji and Chosaku appear and have planned to broadcast the duel on national T.V. However, Manjoume loses to Juudai and the two older brothers have a go at Manjoume, Juudai stopping them. Duel Academia accept Manjoume back, but they tell him he has to start from the bottom – Osiris Red. Through this little adventure, Manjoume gains a spirit partner, Ojama Yellow and the ability to see Duel Spirits. It is during this time he gets his moniker ‘Manjoume Thunder’ and his catch phrase ‘Ichi, Juu, Hyaku, Sen! Manjoume Thunder!’. With Thunder being pronounced ‘Sanda.’

A few days later, Manjoume is called up to Headmaster Samejima’s office – along with Juudai, Asuka, Misawa, Ryou, Chronos and Daitokuji. He, along with the others, accepts the task of guarding a key.

A few weeks later, after meeting Kaibaman, Chosaku and Shouji declare their interest in buying the school. However, Seto Kaiba, the owner, says they have to win in a duel against a student. Manjoume agrees to duel. He later says, in the middle of a school corridor, he’ll duel and win with a deck where all the monsters have a base attack of 0. As he goes down a well with Juudai to find such cards, he finds his other spirit partners, Ojama Black and Ojama Green. He later wins with said deck. However, all of the 0-attack monsters decide to live in his room.

He later duels an Assassin who’s being stealing the keys and wins. However, the Assassin and his friends were actually a Duel Monster group – the Black Scorpion Grave robbing Group. They also decide to live in Manjoume’s room and often hold parties in his room. During that time, he temporarily gains the moniker of ‘Detective Thunder’.

Over the Assassins saga, Manjoume grows a crush on Asuka. He approaches her brother, Fubuki for advice. Fubuki and Manjoume steal the Seven Gate Keys – starting the ninja trend in GX – to force Asuka into a duel. If Manjoume wins, Asuka has to date him. However, Manjoume loses.

In the start of his second year, Manjoume duels a man called Takuma Saiou. During the duel, Manjoume admits to Saiou that he still wants to defeat Juudai. Saiou plays Arcana Force VIII – The Hanged Man and defeats Manjoume, admitting him into the Society of Light and becoming White Thunder.

A few weeks later, when Manjoume has ‘whited’ the majority of Obelisk Blue, Asuka duels him, saying that if she wins he has to stop and turn all the students back to normal. He accepts, wins and thus, Asuka is also ‘whited’.

During the Genex tournament, Manjoume duels Juudai. Juudai uses the Ojama Trio and showing him his black trench coat to try and turn Manjoume back to normal. Manjoume is eventually ‘un-whited’, throws off his white coat and puts on his black one – and through the magic of anime, is also able to put on his /other/ regular clothes without getting a reaction from the crowd. He moves the Ojama Trio to his side of the field and White Knight’s Lord to Juudai’s side – the Ojama’s saying Juudai forced them to work with him. Manjoume then destroys White Knight’s Lord, although it costs him the duel due to White Knight’s Lord’s effect.

Later, when Juudai duels Asuka, Manjoume lends Juudai Ojama Black to convey his feelings for Asuka, but Asuka just destroys Ojama Black without thought.

At the end of the Genex tournament, Manjoume along with the unwhited Obelisks duel and unwhite the remaining members of the Society. As Manjoume is about to be named the winner, Rei Saotome appears and challenges him, holding out a GX medal. If she wins, she will be admitted to Osiris Red. If Manjoume wins, he will be placed in Obelisk Blue. Manjoume wins and is placed in Obelisk. However, he stays in Osiris and Rei is admitted into Osiris, taking Manjoume’s dorm and forcing him to room with Juudai.

He entered Avoria when he was in changing rooms at the Osiris hot springs.

Manjoume is arrogant, selfish, sarcastic and a wee bit violent if your name is Juudai Yuuki. But he cares for the people he’s close to. Really. He only just shows it to Asuka. Seriously, D:. He also calls Fubuki ‘onii-san’ – reflecting his rather obvious crush on Asuka – and ‘shishou’, which would mean ‘master’, XDDD.
